The lakes listed below do allow home ownership on the water and a boathouse or pier.

 

Richland Chambers Lake 43,384  is acres,  330 miles of shoreline, and the maximum depth is 75  feet.  Lake is located southeast of Corsicana.  It is owned and operated by Tarrant Regional Water District.  The lake is in Freestone & Navarro counties.  This is the third largest lake in Texas and the youngest lake.  There are over 60 subdivisions around the Lake and you can have a waterfront property with a boathouse/pier.  Water skiing, boating, fishing, sailing, bird watching and jet skiing are allowed on the lake.    Species of fish found are catfish, crappie, white bass, hybrid striped bass, largemouth bass and sunfish. Click here for more information and Homes for Sale at Lake Richland Chambers.

 

Cedar Creek Lake 32,623 acres,  length is 8.5  miles, 220 miles of shoreline, and the maximum depth is   53 feet.  Lake is located 60 miles southeast of Dallas and centrally located between Houston, Austin, DFW, Tyler and Longview.  It is owned and operated by Tarrant Regional Water District.  The lake is in Henderson, Kaufman and VanZandt counties .  It is the fourth largest lake in Texas.  The lake is one of the best lakes in the area for boating, pontooning, water skiing, tubing, wake boarding, sailing, swimming, bird watching and fishing.  There are over 350 lake subdivisions around Cedar Creek Lake. Lake Tawakoni is 36,700 acres,  200 miles, and the maximum depth is 70 feet.  Tawakoni is located southeast of Greenville on Caddo Creek and the South Fork and Cowleech Fork of the Sabine river.  It is owned and operated by Sabine River Authority.  The lake is in Van Zandt, Rains, Hunt counties.  Activities on the lake are boating, fishing, waterskiing, jet skiing, canoeing, and kayaking.  There are campgrounds and public boat ramps.  Species of fish found are striped and hybrid bass, white bass, catfish, crappie and largemouth bass.   Click here to view waterfront Homes for sale at Lake Tawakoni.

 

Lake Fork is 27,690   acres.  Lake Fork is located between Quitman, Alba, Emory & Yantis.  It is owned and operated by the Sabine River Authority .  The lake is in 3 counties -  Wood, Rain & Hopkins .  It is primarily a bass fishing lake and an excellent habitat for fishing and bird watching.  When boating you do need to watch for debris and stumps.  Public boat ramps.  Waterside living and boathouses are allowed.    Click here to view waterfront Homes For Sale at Lake Fork.

 

Possum Kingdom Lake is 16,716  acres,  219 miles of shoreline, and the maximum depth is 145  feet.  Lake is located 25 miles from Mineral Wells.  The zipcode area is 76449 and is located in Palo Pinto county.  It is owned and operated by Brazos River Authority .    Crystal clear water and cliffside views.  There are marinas and boat ramps.  All types of boating are possible.  All registered boats are required to have a Water Recreational User Permit from the Brazos River Authority.  Camping is available.  Hells Gate, a narrow channel which cuts between an island and a row of cliffs is a popular spot.  Waterside living and boathouses are allowed.  Click here to see Waterfront Homes for sale at Possum Kingdom Lake.

 

Lake Palestine is 25,560 acres, length is 18 miles, and the deepest area is 50 feet.  Lake Palestine is located 15 miles southwest of Tyler.  It is owned and operated by the Angelina & Neches River Authority.  The lake is in Henderson, Smith, Anderson & Cherokee counties.  Boating, jet skiing, and fishing are allowed on the lake.  Waterside living and boathouses are allowed.  Types of fish found are Lake Palestine are largemouth bass, white bass, hybrid striped bass, channel and blue catfish.  Waterside living and boathouses are allowed.  Click here to view waterfront Homes for Sale at Lake Palestine.  

 

 

Eagle Mountain Lake 8,697 acres, 60 miles of shoreline, and the maximum depth is 47 feet.  Lake is located 15 miles north of downtown Fort Worth.  It is owned and operated by Tarrant Regional Water District.  The lake is in Tarrant county .  Marinas.  Camping allowed.  Watersports include sailing, wakeboarding, water skiing, tubing, canoeing, kayaking and pontooning.  Click here to view waterfront homes for sale at Eagle Mountain Lake. 

 

Lake Granbury is 7,945 acres, 103 miles of shoreline and the maximum depth is 33 feet.  The lake is located 33 miles southwest of Fort Worth.  The lake is controlled by the Brazos River Authority .  Waterside living and a boathouse are allowed.  There is a historic downtown at the Granbury square.  Click here  to view waterfront Homes For Sale at Lake Granbury.

 

Lake Athens is 1,799 acres, and the maximum depth is 50  feet.  Lake Athens is located 5 miles east of Athens.  It is owned and operated by Athens Municipal Water Authority.  The lake is in Henderson county .  This lake does allow home ownership on the water and a boathouse/pier.  It is also considered a constant level lake. Callender lake is a 365 acre lake and 18 feet deep.  The lake is controlled by a Joint CLPOIA / HHPOIA Fish and Wildlife committee.  It is located between Canton, Athens and Tyler off of Hwy 31, 773 & FM 2339.  It is considered a constant level lake fed by natural springs and streams.  Callender lake is a fishing and recreation lake and large boats are not recommended.  There are two gated communities.  In the community there is a community center, boat storage, boat launch, park, fishing pier, swim beach with picnic tables and restrooms.  The lake is stocked with bass, catfish and crappie. Hide-A-Way Lake | Hide-A-Way is 13 miles northwest of Tyler in Smith county.  There are 3 lakes (148- acres, 80-acres & 7-acres) with around 1,600 homes.  There is a gated community, boat ramp, dock, fishing piers, beach, 27-hole golf course, parks, tennis courts, playgrounds, pavilion, picnic area, ball fields and basket ball court, on-site dining, community buildings, and an on-site medical facility.  The lake is governed by a board of directors and homeowners association.  Click here to view Waterfront Homes for Sale listed in the North Texas Region MLS.  For more information about properties for sale at Hide-A-Way lake, please send me an email. 

 

Echo Lake is a small 500-acre lake with a gated community in Brownsboro in Henderson County.  The amenities include an airstrip, horse pasture, gun range and trails.  An 18-hole golf course is close by.  No waterskiing or jet skiing is allowed on the lake.

US Army Corp of Engineer Lakes & City owned Lakes in the Prairies & Lakes Region of Texas.

 

You can not live directly on the water and have a boathouse at a US Army Corp of Engineer Lake.  However, you can live close enough to have lake views. 

 

Lake Texoma is 89,000 acres,  580 miles of shoreline, and the maximum depth is 100  feet.  Lake  is located northwest of Sherman and Denison, west of US75.  It is owned and operated by US Army Corp of Engineers.  This lake is on the Texas & Oklahoma border and two-thirds of the lake lies in Oklahoma.  Click here to view Homes For Sale on Lake Texoma.  

 

Lake Ray Roberts is 29,250 acres, 90 miles of shoreline, and the maximum depth is 106 feet.  Lake  is located 30 miles north of Lewisville.  It is owned and operated by US Army Corp of Engineers.  It is one of the newest lakes in Texas.

Lake Belton is 12,385  acres,  136 miles of shoreline, and the maximum depth is 124 feet.  Lake is located 20 minutes from Belton.  It is owned and operated by  US Army Corp of Engineers.

 

Lake Waco is 7,270 acres,  60 miles of shoreline, and the maximum depth is 85 feet.  Lake is located off TX Hwy 6 just outside the city limits of Waco.  It is owned and operated by US Army Corp of Engineers.  Zebra mussels have been found in this reservoir! CLEAN, DRAIN AND DRY your boat, trailer, livewells/bait buckets, and other gear before traveling to another water body. Draining water is required by law and possession and transportation of zebra mussels is illegal.

Joe Pool Lake is 7,470 acres, 60 miles of shoreline, and the maximum depth is 75  feet.  Joe Pool lake is located.  It is owned and operated by US Army Corp of Engineers.  The lake is located in Grand Prairie & Cedar Hill in Dallas, Ellis & Tarrant counties.  You can not live right on the water nor can you own a boathouse.  You can picnic, camp, boat, jetski, waterski and fish on the lake.    

 

Somerville Lake is 11,460  acres,  85 miles of shoreline, and the maximum depth is 38 feet.  Lake is located 30 miles from Bryan-College Station.  It is owned and operated by US Army Corp of Engineers.

 

Benbrook Lake is 3,800 acres, 41 miles of shoreline, and the maximum depth is 61 feet.  Lake is located 10 miles southwest of downtown Fort Worth.  It is owned and operated by US Army Corp of Engineers.

 

Aquilla Lake is 3,280 acres, 44  miles of shoreline, and the maximum depth is 60  feet.  Lake is located 10 miles from Aquilla.  It is owned and operated by US Army Corp of Engineers.

 

Bardwell Lake is 3,138 acres  and the maximum depth is 43 feet.  Bardwell Lake is located 4 miles southwest of Ennis.  It is owned and operated by  US Army Corp of Engineer.  The lake is in Ellis county .  

 

Lake Cleburne is 1,558  acres and the maximum depth is 64  feet.  Lake is located one hour southwest from DFW.  It is owned and operated by US Army Corp of Engineers. They do not allow camping on the lake. 

 

Lake Waxahachie is 656 acres,  8 miles of shoreline, and the maximum depth is 48  feet.  Lake is located 2 miles south of Waxahachie off FM 877.  It is owned and operated by US Army Corp of Engineers. There are limestone cliffs.  No camping is allowed on Lake Waxahachie.  You can boat, jetski and fish on the lake. 

 

Lake Bonham is 1,020  acres,  22 miles of shoreline, and the maximum depth is 30 feet.  Lake is located 5 miles south of Bonham.  It is owned and operated by US Army Corp of Engineers.  Fishing, boating, waterskiing, swimming, picnicking, camping, and wildlife viewing are allowed on the lake.
